About Us

General Information on Whitchurch High School -
Ysgol Uwchradd Eglwys Newydd
Whitchurch High School is a co educational comprehensive school with almost 2,200 pupils on roll. Our intake is drawn from our eight partner primaries based in north Cardiff. The school is based on two sites in the suburb of Whitchurch. Years 7, 8 and 9 are based on the lower school site off Manor Way, with Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 students on the upper school site in the Village. We are an inclusive school and have a SEN Specialist Resource Base on both sites which admits up to sixty pupils from throughout the city. The popularity of the school means that it is oversubscribed in all year groups.

Whitchurch High School became a Foundation Status School as of 1st September 2011 meaning that the governors are responsible for student admissions, they are the employers, with the school buildings and land placed in trust. The school continues to be a maintained Cardiff LEA comprehensive school.

We aim to achieve excellence. We are very proud of the School’s outstanding reputation.
